Sheita Ch.1 Blue Light

This world is dieing. The mountains have broken down and the rivers have dried up. The ocean waters have receded so low that what was once a beautiful beach area that only kings and kings were allowed to go, was now desert and death. The hot sun was disappearing and the icebergs have sucked up all the water and froze into a huge Ice-fortress. Most creatures on the planet have already gone extinct and the humans have become low in numbers. Down to the mere thousands. Almost all the creatures left on this planet have gone to the warmest parts of the world, like Texas and Florida, which are now twice their size since the ocean has lowered so greatly. The waters so cold now that the fish have all moved on to other locations, limiting our source of food. The humans became more savage since the fish, and regular game have all left or went extinct. Now the humans eat at more extreme measures. I spotted a human that had caught and killed a Polar bear a few days ago. Luckily me and my pack have yet to be caught by these beastly humans. There was one close call but my Uncle was fortunate to kill it before it gave out our hide out. My pack has forbid reproduction until we can find a place with enough food to sustain us. I disagree with his laws and we are constantly fighting about it. My mate has wanted pups for years and we are a newly paired couple so sex is on our minds all the time, but we can't take part until we find a place that doesn't exist? This is not fair. We have recently decided that soon we will go off on our own and create our own pack. The pack is heading over the iced pacific on the way up to Greenland, where there is said to be another pack of Sheita for us to gather with to make our numbers larger and stronger against the humans. My mate and I have chosen to leave tonight with a simple note scratched on the ice for father to read in the morning. We want to go to the warmer lands where there are still some snow hares and sea lions to eat.
We continued to follow my father and the rest of the pack at the back of the group and secretly discussed our plan.
"The sun is getting low, so we should be stopping for camp soon." Manji whispered at me as he stared forward at the 6 Sheita ahead of him to make sure they weren't listening.
"I know," I said back to him as I looked up at the pink and purple sky, gradually getting darker as we walked, "Are we going to go back the way we came? Or find a new path?"
"Well I thought we might go back the way we came until we were far enough away from the pack to safely choose our route, dear."
"That's a very wise decision, honey." I nudged him and smiled.
"Alright! We will rest here for tonight" my father, the Alpha called out. The rest of the pack stopped and searched for a bit of dirt with no ice for them to sleep on. I searched the ground and saw an oddly transparent slice of ice on the floor, and when I looked through it all I saw was an endless black whole.
"Dear, look at this," I called to him and pointed to the ice sheet. "We can use this to write the note."
"Alright, it looks perfect. Now lets lay down and pretend we are sleeping before he comes over." He said as his ear twitched toward my father. A few hours later the light was black and the Sheita pack was deep in sleep. "Lets go." Manji whispered in my ear. I got up and went to the ice spot and started scratching in the note.
"Not too long, we don't want them to wake up as we are writing it." Manji said as he peered over my shoulder.
"I know I know."
"No, thats too long. Here let me do it." He tried pushing me aside, but I pushed back, "no I have it!" he nudged at me again and made me lose my balance and I slammed my paw down on the ice sheet. Suddenly the ice broke beneath me and I fell through the whole, which was much bigger than I thought originally. I stopped in midair and swung sideways and slammed against the wall of the whole. I looked up and saw Manji gripping my foot with his teeth so hard that blood was running down my leg. I then realized that my foot hurt and I yelped and jumped in pain on instinct. My sharp movement caused my mate to jolt forward and fall in with me. He let go of my foot and we both screamed as we fell endlessly down this large black whole.
He grabbed onto me and I clung onto him as we fell in so deep that we couldn't even see each other.
"If we die, just know that I love you, Kitani! " He yelled at me.
"And I will always love you, Manji!" I cried back.
Suddenly we both saw a small blue light below us that was growing larger as we neared it. "What is that?" I asked. "I don't know."
Then the blue light was right below our paws and with a feeling of painful burning, extreme chills, poisonous stinging, and heavy numbness all at once we entered into the bright blue light, then my vision went white and my head went fuzzy and light. I couldn't see anything, then I fell out of consciousness and my body went limp and back to its warm comfortable state.
